Good news and bad news

First, the good news.

The good news is that, at around 11 last night, I finished Nights of Gethsemane. Well, okay, I didn't technically finish it. I still have to go through the long process of editing it and getting it through betas which (at the current beta rate), will be months. But . . . the first draft is finished. I could die tomorrow and I would still have a story to post XD

The bad news is that, as I was typing it up in my room, my internet connection was wonky and it cut out before I finished typing. As I use google docs with google gears to have offline access, I didn't care about this and shut down my computer. Only, when I went to turn on my computer this morning, it wouldn't go into windows >< I have no idea what is wrong with my computer and I don't know of any good computer shops here. It may be months before I am able to get another laptop >____<

I am currently writing from my friend's laptop, but I won't be able to get online as much as I did before. >< Hopefully I can somehow manage to either fix my old laptop or get another laptop before when I next return to the states because I can't imagine spending months borrowing computers.

Luckily, I didn't lose much of the ending of the story. I'll have to rewrite the last 500 words or so, but that's not too bad.

So, unless I find a major plot hole or get sudden inspiration to take the story in a completely different direction than it is now, the story will be 65 chapters long. The later chapters are much, much shorter than the earlier chapters. I have several that are under 3k, but so much happens in them, I think it's better to break them up and have several short chapters rather than a few really long, huge chapters.

I'll probably spend a couple of weeks going over the last chapters again and again, and then I'll start writing Invictus. I can't wait!

At the same time, I'm starting to clean up and edit an RP that I did with shantiwrites. I hope to turn it into a passable fic and post it. I'm not sure how long that will take, as it is the first piece I've ever (co)written in which the POV shifts and I've not grasped how to properly shift POVs yet. Anyway, here's to editing instead of writing!

Nights of Gethsemane (54/61)

Chapter 54 )

Update on Costa Rica!

First of all, as I don't think I announced it before, the Russian translations for A Bunny Tale can be found here (Part 1) and here (Part 2). I thought of that the other day, because I took a trip to see the turtles lay eggs and there was the cutest little bunny at a restaurant we visited. The bunny would come on the table and eat your food after you had finished. The bunny was not supposed to be eating off the plates, so as soon as the owner came by, he'd hurry off. He was so small and adorable, I thought of Harry who is also a very naughty and mischievous rabbit.

My monkeys are still wonderful and still very gay. Our monkey named Voldemort is the cutest thing ever and every time I see her, I want to take her home with me. For those of you interested in that sort of thing, most of the sex I see is male/male and most of the pairings are older males with younger males. It's often older males on top of younger males, but I've seen the reverse fairly often as well, and I've also seen two males have a long sex session together where they take turns topping. The reversible the sex, the more bonded the males tend to be. Some males like to bottom more than others, and some are considered 'sexier' than others and can give other males erections just by walking by. All of the sex I've witness is consensual, and that is the norm. However, one of my coworkers did see an older male aggressively mount a younger juvenile male. That capuchin is a bit of a jerk though. For most encounters, both parties are quite happy to engage in sex. I've seen plenty of butts being offered for fucking to know that it's not normally a show of dominance or aggression. Few things amuse me as much as seeing a juvenile male walking sexily past an older male, with the older male unable to resist the 'call'.

Snarry Games Recs

First, I feel I should put a disclaimer. Due to my busy schedule, I've been unable to read a lot of the Snarry Game stories. I've also not been able to read any from my own team! My lack of mentioning other stories is not because good ones don't exist, but because I haven't had the chance to read. Still, all these stories are awesome and I'd suggest them even if I read a thousand more.

Play the Game by HPStrangelove

I was lucky enough to beta for this which means that I haven't read the most recent version, but I doubt the story went anywhere but up. It's perfect for those people who love dark fics and non-con. If you love to see an Abused!Harry this is a story you need to read. HPStrangelove is an amazing writer and quite inventive when it comes to torture. She does a lot of stuff that I couldn't do in NoG for fear it would turn the fic too dark and lessen the focus on Harry and Snape. However, she manages to maintain the Snape/Harry relationship and develop it without it the story just becoming 'torture porn'. Wand fights and Harry struggling to stay sane while being held captive in the worst prison imaginable made me love this all the more. I won't give away the ending, but I'll say I loved it and can't imagine a better one. I'd give it a 27 if I could.

Sex, Lies, and Audiobooks by RaeWhit

RaeWhit is one of my favourite authors and I was lucky enough to have her beta for me in these Games. She put out this amazing story which has excellent characterizations of Harry and Snape, a satisfying plot and the perfect ending. I love how she researches the hell out of everything she does and a hobby she picked for Snape is the most perfect one imaginable. The writing is superb and I wish I had half her talent when it comes to descriptions of places, emotions, and characters. It's an excellent story, so please read, review, and give it a 27!

Timely Actions by Odogoddess

I don't know how to describe this fic without giving away the plot, but basically, it's a wonderful exploration of what-ifs. I loved the short, sweetness of it without a scene out of place. Well written and a pleasure to read, my only complaint (if I must have one), is that it could have a bit more sex. But I'm a complete pervert :p Worth a 27.

In support of my Team, here are three works of art that I loved. I never know how to review art, but sufficient to say, I enjoyed them.

Artist and Muse by Undun. I love how she draws Harry.

Devil by the Deed by Ships_Harry
. A short little story that I loved. Her use of colour is very striking.

Going to War;Beginnings and Endings by Stupid_Drawings. I do love a man in uniform.

Nights of Gethsemane (52/61)

Sorry this took so long to come out. I'll be diving back fully into this story now that the Snarry Games are winding down.

My Snarry Games fic is posted!!!

I was just recently moved to Team Cauldron and my fic posted! It's called Anachronism and you can find it here. Please read, review, and vote! And while you're there, vote for some of the other awesome entries as well.

It's my first attempt at a romance fic and I'm starting to think it's not possible for me to write normal romances. :p I also wrote it in an insane hurry (less than two months), and while moving to Costa Rica and starting this job. Still, I'm quite proud of being in the Games and writing a ~95k fic in that time.

Now back to NoG!

Music Questions!

Of these songs, which are the two you find most aesthetically pleasing? [pay no attention to the videos, they are just there to let you hear the song]

Craig Armstrong - The Ball

Jon Schmidt - Love Story Meets Viva La Vida

Vast - Flames

The Birthday Massacre - Science

The Birthday Massacre - To Die For

Same song, both covers of Depeche Mode's 'Stripped'. Two versions I can't decide between:

Shiny Toy Guns - Stripped

Rammstein - Stripped [NSFW video]

Whole New Thing

Most gay movies are terrible and have one or both of the main characters die. It's rare to find a gay movie that has a decent plot, is worth seeing, and not hopelessly angst ridden in a stupid way. I present to you: Whole New Thing.

Whole New Thing is the story of a just-turned 13 year old hippie boy who falls for his 40+ gay male English teacher. I have the feeling Snarry fans will especially get a kick out of it, but really, it's a great coming-of-age story in general.

Yes, that is a boy.

Visiting people

Today I had a lovely time visiting whitestar. She's the first of my Harry Potter online friends I've ever met and we had a blast. We hung out with our poor menfolk who talked about cars and about how it was strange to date women who love porn more than them. We went to sex shops, had a lovely dinner, and took a tour of San Jose.

I am now home, happier, healthier; 8 gigs of porn, LUSH soaps, and fresh lemons from her backyard richer.

This summer, I will be taking a road trip from Davis to North Carolina. I'm already visitng Lisa, my amazing RP buddy, but I'm curious to see if anymore of you want to meet up/let me stay the night. I'm going to be driving from San Francisco to Cincinnati, Cincinnati to North Carolina, and then back again. If you live along that route, let me know.

In other news, I've written 34k for my Snarry Games fic D:

his is not a pretty chapter. One of my betas was too disturbed by it to finish reading it. Because of that, I've posted 51 right after, so those who want to skip it, can. It contains graphic descriptions of abuse which some readers may find disturbing.

Azkatraz 2009

Are any of you going to this Harry Potter Convention which will be held in San Francisco, California on the 18-21st of July? I haven't bought my tickets yet, but I will be in the area at the very least (since I live near there). I'd love to meet you.

I also want to apologise for my lack of response to emails and comments lately. My home internet died (posting this at a friend's house) and I've only been able to get online from work and from other people's homes >< On top of that, I recently had my laptop redone and upgraded and it's developed a tic! It randomly jumps back to earlier points in the sentences I am writing. It does this very randomly and jumps backwards different amounts. Spell-check catches most of the mistakes that result from this (and I catch many on my own) but typing stuff takes forever. Until my internet at home gets fixed, I don't want to take the laptop in. Not to mention it is no longer under warranty. ><

Thankfully, I have amazing betas who manage to catch most of my mistakes.
